The Bureau embraces a new theme of "The Year of Mountain Tourism" at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show
LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Taiwan Tourism Bureau has been an advocate of sustainable tourism. This year, the Bureau embraces a new theme of "The Year of Mountain Tourism" at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show which took place on February 15th and 16th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, collaborating with Wildman — an international travel agency specializing in mountaineering and hiking, as well as other reputable players in the southern California tourism market such as China Airlines, Eva Air, Gala Tours, SITA World Tours, Supera Tours along with and Ten Ren Tea. Continuing with last year's Small Town Ramble success, visitors not only received travel advice, tea samples, package and airfare discounts at the show, they also had a chance to win Los Angeles-Taipei round-trip tickets.
"In the face of the recent outbreak of the Noval Coronavirus in China and its threat to global health, Taiwan is still a very safe place to visit as we have outstanding medical staff and system. A central epidemic command center was established immediately to monitor and manage the spread," commented Abraham Chu, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, on the issues of travel safety and health that concern people the most nowadays.
Taiwan has 268 mountains that exceed 9,800 feet in height divided into 5 principal mountain ranges: Central Mountain Range, Coastal Mountain Range, Yushan Range, Xueshan Range, and Alishan Range. "In order to brand Taiwan as an international mountaineering tourism destination with highlights on peculiarity, adventure, steepness, and beauty, Wildman came all the way from Taiwan to make a special presentation to Angelenos on the unique natural landscapes, indigenous tribal culture, ecology, historic trails, and exclusive itineraries featuring indigenous tribes around the mountain ranges," says Cathy Hung, Deputy Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau's Los Angeles office.
During the two-day show, the Bureau hosted many cultural performances and guru talks to promote Taiwan's culture and tourism. There were Taiwanese folk dancing performances by the STC Foundation and Miss Taiwanese Americans performed their own choreographed dance "Taiwan – The Heart of Asia"; at the Destination Theatre, internet celebrity Owin Pierson shared his latest travel experience in Taiwan.
Visitors filled out a simple survey at the Taiwan Pavilion for the limited edition year of the rat handheld-lanterns, tea samples offered by Tea Station of Ten Ren Tea, and a chance to win a Los Angeles-Taipei round-trip ticket sponsored by China Airlines and Eva Air. On top of that, exclusive $500 travel vouchers from Supera Tours, Gala Holiday, and SITA World Tours, as well as $100 vouchers for mountain tours in Taiwan from Wildman were among the incredible raffle.
