Tax Policy Organizations Announce Upcoming Conference on Taxation Issues in Charitable Giving
The American Tax Policy Institute and Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center are hosting a public event, "Taxes and the Future of Philanthropy," in Washington D.C. on February 18.
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The American Tax Policy Institute announces that The American Tax Policy Institute and Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center are hosting a joint conference on Tuesday, February 18, at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C. The subject of the conference is Taxes and the Future of Philanthropy and will address how changes in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 affect charitable giving, among other topics.
The conference, jointly organized with the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, will feature speakers drawn from universities and law schools, government agencies, law firms, accounting firms, research institutes, and popular journals.
Purpose of the Conference
Recent tax law changes have changed how everyday taxpayers and the country's wealthiest approach charitable donations. How should the philanthropic sector respond to these challenges to maintain and increase widespread support from charitable givers? What do tax accountants and taxation lawyers need to know as they advise and represent charitable organizations and donors in this shifting legal and societal landscape? These questions and others will be explored in a keynote address and panel of experts offering a diverse set of voices and opinions.

The event is being held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Urban Institute, 500 L'Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC 20024. Check-in and breakfast begin at 9:00 a.m. Attendance is free, but registration is required to attend.
