Texas Center for Arts + Academics Hires Chief Academic Officer, Natalie Texada
FORT WORTH, Texas (PRWEB) July 09, 2018 -- Clint Riley, President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Center for Arts + Academics, has announced that the 501(c)-3 non-profit organization has hired its first Chief Academic Officer, Natalie Texada. Ms. Texada will serve as superintendent for the arts-based public charter schools of Texas Center for Arts + Academics: Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA).
“Ms. Texada has an exciting and unique set of skills, education, and experience that will truly benefit the Texas Center for Arts + Academics family,” said Mr. Riley. “She is an educator and administrator, an artist, a patron of the arts, and a parent of artists. As well, she served as the TeSA principal for six school years before departing to continue work toward her doctorate in educational leadership.”
Ms. Texada is an education doctoral student at Texas Christian University. She holds a Master of Education degree in educational administration from Texas Christian University, a Master of Fine Arts in dance from the University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ballet performance from the University of Oklahoma. Her certifications include Texas Administrative Certification (Principal, Grades ES-12), Professional Development and Appraisal System Certification (PDAS), Instructional Leadership Development Certification (ILD) and Texas Teacher Certification (Dance, Grades 8-12).
“From the classroom to the stage, Ms. Texada is the perfect person to work closely with students, parents, faculty, and staff, as well as community stakeholders,” continued Mr. Riley. “Importantly, Ms. Texada is a FWAFA parent, which, combined with her experience as a TeSA principal, provides her with an incredibly valuable perspective that will benefit us all.”
In addition to her prior role as TeSA principal, Ms. Texada was most recently Director of TRIO Upward Bound at Texas Christian University, and she previously worked with the Fort Worth Independent School District as a site supervisor for Fort Worth After School at Sunrise-McMillian Elementary School. Ms. Texada was also instrumental in founding a non-profit organization, Academy of Performing and Visual Arts (2007-2009), for the purpose of establishing an open enrollment charter school. Her classroom experience includes serving as a Dallas ISD teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School and W.H. Gaston Middle School. An artist herself, Ms. Texada was a scholarship student and apprentice with Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York City and was also a professional dancer, enjoying a successful touring career with Dallas Black Dance Theatre.

According to Texas Center for Arts + Academics, as CAO, Ms. Texada will be responsible for the effective operation of the schools, including the general administration of all instructional, business, and other operations. Reporting to the President and CEO, she will be a member of the organization’s leadership team and responsible for providing the highest quality instructional and administrative leadership, facilitating positive individual, family, and community growth through guidance and role modeling for all stakeholders. In collaboration with faculty, staff, and administration, Ms. Texada will support the organization’s mission of excellence through ongoing instruction, program, and systems development and curriculum alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the National Core Arts Standards.
