The ArtsXchange Unveils New Tully-Levine Gallery
Gallery space dedicated to local artist Katee Tully and wife Helen Levine
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Nov. 09, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) is dedicating a gallery within the ArtsXchange in honor of local artist Katee Tully and her wife Helen Levine.
Katee Tully, a St. Petersburg resident and former Executive Director of the Morean Arts Center, is a nationally recognized artist. She and her wife, Helen Levine, Regional Vice Chancellor of External Affairs at University of South Florida St. Petersburg, are longtime supporters of arts, education, economic development, and culture, supporting organizations such as WADA and The Women's Leadership Institute at Florida State University.
Their support of the ArtsXchange has helped transform the former vacant warehouse space into a thriving arts destination that has contributed to the growth of the city.
"When we arrived in St. Pete over a decade ago, we could taste the ingredients of the stew that make a great city -- innovators, artists, universities and colleges on the rise, and leadership that cares about all residents," said Helen Levine. "We have been proud to contribute to the momentum of the City through our commitment to art and cultural institutions. Located just south of downtown St. Petersburg and within the Warehouse Arts District, The ArtsXchange is a 2.7-acre site consisting of six buildings and 50,000 total square feet of sustainable and affordable art studios and educational space. Almost 30 artists have studio spaces within the building -- photographers, painters, graphic artists, mixed media, and metal artists – and the main gallery rotates highly curated art from around the country. Future improvement plans include space for a professional dance studio, additional artist studios and galleries, performance spaces, classrooms, a coffee shop, educational microbrewery and restaurant.
