The Digital Learning Collaborative now offers a New Course Supporting K-6 Teachers Transitioning to Remote Learning
Online Professional Learning Course Provides Essential Skills and Strategies to Engage Students and Families in Online and Blended Learning
DURANGO, Colo., July 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Districts face many challenges in transitioning to remote learning, but a key task is ensuring that teachers are able to teach online. In particular, many leaders are finding that elementary school teachers are having the most difficulty with the transition, because of their customary teaching methods, the age of their students, and other factors. A new course released today by the Digital Learning Collaborative, a membership group made up of school districts, education agencies, non-profit organizations, and companies, helps elementary teachers make the transition.
Transitioning to K-6 Remote Teaching models active online instruction, using a combination of live lessons and on-demand videos, online discussions, and extensive resources. This 10-15 hour course prepares teachers to develop strategies for online instruction, engage students, build relationships and community, communicate with students and families, design and evaluate digital learning experiences, design for accessibility, integrate social emotional learning, and design assessments in online and blended learning environments.
The course was developed and is being taught by the Digital Learning Collaborative in conjunction with several of the nation's leading experts on education technology, online learning, and the transition to remote instruction.
