Waterproofing
DryShield has been in the game for a long time, ensuring that every house we're in charge of basement waterproofing is done so expeditiously and correctly. If you have high standards, it's like ours are higher.
How we waterproof your home depends on you and your budget, as well as your structure.
Interior
When we work on the internal section of your basement, we expose the foundation by removing a slab of concrete 12 - 14 inches from the wall. Once we've dug a trench, we add a weeping tile graded towards a sump pump before adding in clear gravel. Then, we add a waterproof membrane that extends to the top of the foundation wall. Finally, we add new concrete over the system and call it a job well done.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior, we remove the excavated soil and remove the existing weeping tiles. Then we drill small holes into the bottom blocks, which helps remove moisture from the walls. Then we get to work applying a high-quality rubberized urethane. Poly sheeting is applied over the urethane, and a dimple board is finally installed with steel brackets and a finishing strip.
Once all that's done, new weeping tiles are installed with a geotextile filter cloth is installed and connected. ¾ clear gravel is installed on top, with a minimum of one-foot depth. Then before adding back in the excavated soil, a geomembrane filter cloth is put on top of the clear gravel to prevent the soil from clogging up the system.
Conclusion
If you're serious about saving your home from water damage, then the best route to take is by waterproofing your home. A basement leak repair job can quickly become a whole lot bigger when you realize the knock your home is taking each time there's a storm or snow.
