The Patterson Foundation and Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy Begin New Collaboration
Graduates are eligible to apply for career-building experience through end of the year
SARASOTA, Fla., Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Patterson Foundation and the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI are announcing a collaboration to strengthen the social sector through opportunities for future nonprofit leaders to learn and share while evolving their careers. The Foundation's new Fellows Initiative, which is launching through this collaboration, provides graduates of the world's first school dedicated solely to the study and teaching of philanthropy a year-long career-building opportunity to learn innovative philanthropic principles and share their expertise.
The Patterson Foundation, a fully endowed charitable entity located in Sarasota, Fla., has worked to strengthen people, organizations and communities since 2010 through a variety of initiatives covering a range of local, regional, national and global issues. The collaboration with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy represents the latest evolution of The Patterson Foundation's approach, which emphasizes sharing homegrown knowledge gained through working in diverse initiatives while creating platforms to learn the latest innovations for generating sustainable impact. Laurey Stryker, Ed.D., who served as assistant commissioner of the Florida Department of Education and CEO of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee before consulting with private foundations on education initiatives, is managing the Fellows Initiative for The Patterson Foundation.

At the vanguard of philanthropy education for more than three decades, Indiana University and the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy educates and prepares students and practitioners to be thoughtful, innovative leaders who awaken generosity and inspire change. Students enrolled in its Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies degree program learn through a combination in-depth research, study of the history, culture and values of philanthropy and hands-on professional practice in areas such as fundraising, volunteering and civil society. The Patterson Foundation's Fellows Initiative is open to graduates of the program pursuing careers in community, corporate or private foundations.
