The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Unveils Ocean-Inspired Art Installation at Acclaimed Navio Restaurant
HALF MOON BAY, Calif. After a 23-year career as a professional with the LPGA, Ms. Smith began her journey as an artist seven years ago as a form of self-expression to communicate the playful and joyful way she experiences the world. Boasting picturesque ocean views, Navio at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay provides the ultimate setting for the six-piece art installation titled “Ocean Inspiration.”
“We were looking to refresh the artwork in our signature restaurant Navio with an interest in collaborating with a local artist with a modern aesthetic,” said Joel Costa, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. “After looking at her artwork, I was very intrigued especially with her dramatic “Ocean” series which I thought fit perfectly with Navio’s concept of artfully presented sustainable seafood overlooking the Pacific Ocean.”
Featuring titles such as “Sea Breeze,” “Ocean Dreams,” and “Secrets of the Sea,” each piece was crafted with vibrantly colored resins on wooden panels to reflect elements of the coast. Hues of grey, blue, and silver atop the sandy tone of wood are reminiscent of the rolling tides and pristine beaches just steps outside the coastal resort. The soothing textures of each piece complement the relaxed atmosphere of Navio.
Whether indulging in a decadent spread of seasonally inspired dishes at Navio’s famous Saturday Farmers Market Brunch or sipping on a signature handcrafted cocktail at sunset, locals and guests alike can admire the colorful installation alongside a multitude of locally inspired culinary delights available at Navio.
