They Had a “Lousey” Reason To Start a New Business
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (PRWEB) February 05, 2019 -- As Sara Powers of Geneva and Andrea Robinson of Horseheads, New York said in a recent interview, “It’s not easy to start a new business with very limited funds, but we want to make life easier for families in our area of New York who are faced with a head-lice infestation. And we are working hard to ensure they will come to us for help when they need it.”
Andrea, who has been involved in early childhood education for over 20 years, never had to deal with a case of head lice until the day her own daughter came home from elementary school with lice. Andrea raced to the pharmacy, grabbed one of the traditional over-the-counter products and spent days combing the products through her daughter’s hair. But, despite spending a lot of time and money (on toxic products that don’t work), she just wasn’t able to defeat the infestation. Then, to add to the misery, her other daughter came home with lice a few days later.
Andrea was overwhelmed. So, she called her friend, Sara Powers, for help. Sara works in the social service field and has had some experience with head lice, but had never actually had to treat them. Exhausted, Andrea wanted to find a solution that wouldn’t involve using such harsh products on her girls. Together, Andrea and Sara searched on-line for a better solution. They looked for a professional lice treatment company they could visit or who would come to their home. The only place they could find professional lice removal help was a two and a half hour drive away. As Andrea said, at that point, “I would have done anything to have someone solve the problem for me.”
That’s when the two friends had an “aha” moment! They decided they couldn’t be the only families in their area that had to deal with head lice and couldn’t find a professional to help them. So, they decided to start a business in their area to offer families easy access to professional lice checks and lice treatments using non-toxic lice products. Again, scouring the internet, they identified a company called, Lice Treatment Center® (LTC), that seemed to offer the help they needed.
In fact, LTC® offered a course that trained them to be professional lice technicians using LTC’s proprietary products and methodology. LTC® co-founder and president, Liz Solovay, described the lice industry, the opportunity in their region, and the estimated cost of starting their own business. It seemed like serendipity. They decided to sign up for the course, which turned out to be excellent and affordable. In addition to learning the treatment protocols designed by LTC’s medical director, pediatrician and scientist, Dr. Elin Cohen, they were provided with a “how to” for starting their business. They also learned about the LTC® line of non-toxic products to use in their treatments. The LTC™ products, sold throughout the U.S. on-line and in selected pharmacies and salons, were formulated and tested by Dr. Cohen and have been used successfully by LTC® for more than 350,000 clients.
After completing the training, Sara and Andrea launched their business: Louse-Y Lice, LLC
In the short time they have been in business, the partners have treated many families and are continuing to grow. “We are so busy, it’s amazing.” Sara said recently when she called to order more treatment products. For information email: help (at) louseylice (dot) us.
