Three States Select Cambria Solutions to Guide Development of Critical Medicaid Management and Information Systems
Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida select Cambria Solutions to define innovation roadmaps and manage implementation of next-generation Medicaid Management Information Systems to reduce costs and deliver better health outcomes for beneficiaries
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Cambria Solutions, a national information technology and management consulting firm that helps governments deliver results better, faster and with greater consistency, has been selected by Louisiana and Mississippi, along with assistance provided to Florida, in the planning and oversight for significantly upgrading each of these states' Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS). These new modular-based systems will support states in cost reduction, enhance efficiencies through improved coordination, and provide better health outcomes for patients.
In addition to its Medicaid experience, Cambria brings innovations in digital transformation initiatives for state governments through human-centered design and agile development methodologies.
"The consumerization of IT means that patients, beneficiaries and other users expect their interaction with government healthcare systems to be friendly, engaging and accessible," said Suzanne Vitale, president at Cambria Solutions. "Cambria combines efficient project management, the latest thinking in user experience design, and lean-agile project and portfolio management skills. Our collaborative approach helps government agencies rethink how best to deliver services to constituents and enables them to modernize and future-proof their Medicaid systems."
For Mississippi and Louisiana, Cambria will oversee the design and implementation of a replacement for each state's current MMIS system and the subsequent transition to modularity. Modularity is breaking up traditional, large systems into smaller, self-contained modules that lower risk and support innovation. Each state will use modularity to help accelerate the transition to managed care and innovative delivery models.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) recently selected Cambria as the Project and Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) to support the MMIS replacement and enterprise projects across the agency. As part of the PPMO services to be delivered, Cambria is bringing to bear its innovative project management techniques, fluency with the latest technologies, and lean-agile transformation methodologies that will enable achievement of the state's Medicaid business goals.
"The new wave of MMIS projects demanded a partner with an innovative, different approach," said Louisiana Department of Health, Medicaid Deputy Director & Chief Technology Officer Mitzi Hochheiser. "Cambria was the easy choice. Cambria brings deep experience in Medicaid across six states and takes an innovative approach to transformation that will help us improve delivery across the agency."
Last year, the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) selected Cambria to set up and manage the Project Management Office (PMO) for the MMIS Replacement Project (MRP), but recently expanded the scope of the contract so that Cambria could assist with enterprise-wide implementation of departmental transformational goals as an Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO). The goal is to improve operational efficiency, instill project management principles across the agency, and align the dozens of projects to the agency's vision.
"Trust is one of the most important elements for success in an MMIS implementation," said Mississippi Division of Medicaid Deputy Administrator Rita Rutland. "We've been partnering with Cambria for six years now on a variety of projects, so we trust Cambria as their depth of Medicaid and consulting experience has been invaluable, but more so their personal approach in helping us think through our plans and implement the right solutions that work for Mississippi."
In 2017, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) selected the North Highland Company, with Cambria as a subcontractor, as a Strategy Enterprise Advisory Services (SEAS) vendor to support similar objectives. This marks three Medicaid agencies in three years to select Cambria for these services.
The Cambria blueprint for MMIS modernization
Modularity in MMIS replacement projects is new to many states, and Cambria is one of a handful of IT service providers with proven capabilities to provide support and implement the latest development methodologies (such as Lean, Agile, and DevOps) to smooth the path to a modular architecture. Cambria implements comprehensive project-management services to support agencies as they strive to better serve individuals currently enrolled in the states' Medicaid programs as well as future enrollees.
