(TBCL) was proud to partner with the annual mineral exploration and mining convention hosted by PDAC at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre March 1-4. Eleven buses (7 mini-coaches and 4 highway coaches) in total provided transportation services for the 25,000+ attendees, shuttling between various downtown hotels and the MTCC, ensuring all passengers reached their destination in safety, comfort and style.
TBCL shuttle bus services were available to event attendees throughout each day of the PDAC event. The peak time for shuttles was between 8-10:30 am and again at 3:30-6 pm when busses ran every 15 minutes to meet demands and get attendees to their destination in a timely manner. During off-peak times throughout the day, shuttle buses ran every 30 minutes. The transportation plan developed for the event included a paid duty officer to assist with the flow of coaches, traffic control, and boarding of the shuttle buses. With the assistance of the officer, TBCL also supervised taxi service to ensure they were readily available to attendees and did not interfere with the TBCL shuttle buses.
Four different routes for the TBCL charter bus services were developed for the PDAC event, each serving hotels in specific areas, moving attendees between hotels and the MTCC. All TBCL buses were fitted with decals and signage to help event attendees easily identify their coach, and get to their destination on time. Whether their destination was a close as the Westin Harbour Castle, or as far as the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, the signage provided clear direction to attendees and avoided any confusion.
To facilitate the management of the transportation program, TBCL staff were on-site to oversee the flow of busses and attendees, mitigate any lineups or disruptions in service, and provide any direction needed to help attendees. In light of the development of COVID-19 virus, additional sanitization procedures were implemented as a precautionary measure to protect the health and safety of passengers and drivers.
