CHANDLER, Ariz., July 30, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Trident at American InterContinental University (Trident) is proud to announce that faculty member Dr. George Belsom's paper, "Virtual Leader Communication Style: Development of a New Measurement Instrument," has been accepted for presentation at the 2020 European Academy of Management (EURAM) conference.
Co-authors on this paper include Dr. Indira Guzman, Doctoral Studies Director in Trident's Glenn R. Jones College of Business (GRJ-COB), Dr. Jose Angeles, GRJ-COB Faculty Member, and Dr. Joshua Shackman, Assistant Professor, California State University Maritime Academy.
Based on research carried out for his doctoral dissertation, "The Impact of a Virtual Leader's Communication Style on Virtual Team Performance," Dr. Belsom's conference presentation explores a new theoretical model that defines and explains virtual team leaders' communication style, and how the style may impact trust, an employee's emotional attachment or identification with their organization, and knowledge sharing within a team.
Furthermore, this model seeks to understand the significance that supportive communication and motivating language has to a virtual leader.
The three dimensions evaluated by this model are e-leadership, communication style, and motivating language.
Dr. Belsom is a faculty member in Trident's Glenn R. Jones College of Business, instructing Introduction to Research in Leadership and Leadership and Change. He has over 30 years of experience working within the Department of Defense, and currently serves as Program Manager at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in St. Louis.
Dr. Belsom earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Education from Trident. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Theory from University of Maryland, College Park.
The 2020 European Academy of Management Conference is scheduled to be held from December 4-6 in Dublin, Ireland.
