Trident at AIU Ph.D. Alum Has Research Accepted for Information Technology Conference
Dr. Kurt Hoffmaster's dissertation research has been accepted as part of the official proceedings of ACM SIGMIS Computers and People Research 2020. Dr. Hoffmaster is a graduate of Trident's Ph.D. in Business Administration program.
CYPRESS, Calif., May 28, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Kurt Hoffmaster, an alumnus of Trident at AIU's Ph.D. in Business Administration program, is the lead author on research that has been accepted for ACM SIGMIS (Special Interest Groups for Management and Information Systems) Computers and People Research Conference 2020.
Based on Dr. Hoffmaster's Ph.D. dissertation, "Job-Leisure and Work-Family Conflict: Do they Really Matter in IT Professional Turnover?" is a theoretical study that seeks to understand the potential impact of family and leisure commitments on employee turnover in the information technology field.
The research suggests that both job-leisure and work-family conflict are factors that can play a role in lower job satisfaction, and thus, an information technology employee's desire to seek new employment. Given that employee retention is a major concern of business managers, these findings are significant as they shine a light on what motivates professionals in this field.
Coauthors of this paper include Dr. Hoffmaster's Dissertation Chair, Dr. Jose Angeles, Dr. Indira Guzman, Doctoral Director of Trident's Glenn R. Jones College of Business, and Dr. Kenneth Cromer.
The goal of ACM SIGMIS is to promote high-quality research and practices in the management of information systems and technologies in management commerce. They have held annual conferences for over 50 years, working closely with both the academic and practitioner communities.
ACM SIGMIS Computers and People Research 2020, originally scheduled for June 19-21 in Nuremberg, Germany, has been cancelled this year as a public health precaution. Dr. Hoffmaster's research will still appear in the official proceedings of ACM SIGMIS Computers and People Research 2020, which is available online now.
