Trudeau Claims Carbon Taxes Stop Wildfires and Climate Change While a New Report Shows Canada's Carbon Tax Regime is a Complete Mess Says Friends of Science
CALGARY, Alberta (PRWEB) June 06, 2019 -- Prime Minister Trudeau claimed carbon taxes prevent extreme climate change and wildfires, as reported by the National Observer on June 4, 2019, but a new report from the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) of June 5, 2019 says the carbon taxation regime in Canada is a complete mess and damaging Canada's economic prospects, says Friends of Science.
The National Observer article is part of an “Elections Integrity” series and appeared to attack Premier Jason Kenney of Alberta. As reported by CBC on May 31, 2019, Kenney has said that wildfires, which presently rage in various northern parts of the province, occur due to complex factors, many of which are human caused by negligence, accident or intent. The 2012 Flat Top Fire Complex Review of Slave Lake's 2011 catastrophic wildfires also showed aging conifers to be a crucial factor. Kenney was elected on a promise to scrap Alberta’s carbon tax, which he did, and vows to fight the federal imposition of such a tax in court. The GWPF's “Carbon Taxation: The Canadian Experience” report is written by Robert Lyman, a more than 40-year veteran of the public service in Canada.
“Carbon pricing should be the most economically efficient way to deal with CO2 emissions”, says Lyman. “But the Canadian government has turned a simple idea into a dog’s breakfast.”
Lyman's study refers to a report by Canada's Ecofiscal Commission and their Abacus Data survey of Feb. 2018, which showed Canadians ranked climate change as the last priority. Friends of Science rebutted that survey and report with "Let Them Eat Carbon."
Regarding the claim that carbon taxes will stop climate change, extreme weather or wildfires, the 2012 UN climate panel special report on extreme events (IPCC SREX) did not find that human-caused global warming was related to extreme events.
As explained by Kenneth Gregory, P. Eng. in a Friends of Science post of June 4, 2019, climate models (simulations) that forecast future temperatures are running far too hot.
These exaggerated projections have led activists to push for “Unprecedented Climate Mobilization” or to adopt a "Climate Emergency Mode" – both of which drive the media and public into mass climate psychosis.
Congresswoman “AOC’s” Green New Deal vision, described in an article in Teen Vogue of April 17, 2019, and Greta Thunberg’s Climate Strike, who parrots the "Climate Psychologist" Linda Klein-Salamon’s ‘house on fire’ mantra, are frightening the public with false information.

Friends of Science says the sun is the major driver of climate change, affecting natural cycles of oceans, and these vast natural forces are beyond the control of human beings and will not be stopped by carbon taxes.
