UNCF turns 75 years old on April 25, 2019 and will be holding the following events to commemorate its anniversary:
- 8:30 a.m.-9:15 a.m.- Commemorative Address
- 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.- Student-Centered Learning & Engagement Session
- 3:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. Scholarship Awards
WHAT: During the past 75 years, UNCF (United Negro College Fund) has helped nearly half a million students earn college degrees. Redoubling its commitment to education for all, UNCF will celebrate its 75th anniversary with two events at its headquarters in Washington, DC and an online giving campaign. The celebration includes an unique scholarship award presentation to the 37 incoming freshmen attending a UNCF-member institution, unveiling of the organization's plan to focus on the sustainability of its member HBCUs; increasing the pipeline of African American college graduates; and student-centered activities to familiarize local high school seniors and parents on college-related resources available through UNCF.
The events will also feature:
- Key stakeholder remarks
- Discussion about how to be successful in college with interactive breakout sessions
- One-on-one instruction showing how to apply for scholarships
