Valley Indoor Swap Meet Tops Off Electrical Overhaul With a Rooftop Baker Electric Solar System

POMONA, Calif., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Baker Electric, a full-service electric, solar and storage contractor serving Southern California, completed a 656.64 kW rooftop solar project this past summer for the Pomona location of Valley Indoor Swap Meet (VISM), just in time to harness peak solar savings. The project is part of VISM's ongoing effort to not only combat continually rising electricity costs, but to also help in the fight against climate change. The new solar system is guaranteed to produce more than 547,700 kWh total in the next 20 years, equivalent to offsetting the carbon dioxide emissions of 446,032 pounds of burned coal.

The new solar project is estimated to save VISM more than $150,000 in electricity costs within the first year alone—an 81 percent reduction in overall energy consumption. Those numbers will add up to a net savings of more than $5.3 million over the course of the modules' 25-year life warranty. VISM wanted to tap into the solar savings as soon as possible, and in less than six months the Pomona renewable energy system was up and running.

VISM's energy renovation project began eight years ago when the owners decided to upgrade the indoor and outdoor lighting of both the Pomona and Panorama City locations to LED. Following the new lighting installations was a complete overhaul of the air conditioning system, completed in just a couple of years. The state-of-the-art rooftop solar system from Baker topped off the renovations.
