Venture Construction Group Salutes Military & Veterans During Military Appreciation Month

WASHINGTON, May 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As an avid supporter of the health and welfare of our nation's active duty military personnel and veterans, Venture Construction Group (VCG) sponsored the Luke's Wings Heroes Gala on April 27. Luke's Wings programs include the Luke's Wings Wounded Warrior Transportation Assistance Program that provides complimentary airfare for loved ones of wounded military personnel to be present throughout recovery. Ancillary programs support the Special Operations community and Veteran's In Hospice Care for service members battling life-threatening illnesses. The 2019 annual gala raised $443,000 to provide critical flights for wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans in hospice care, and first responders. Luke's Wings committed to providing 1,000 flights for wounded warriors in 2019, far surpassing previous years.

Luke's Wings was founded in 2008 by a group of dedicated individuals who observed the struggles of wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The nonprofit organization has grown considerably and serves a long list of military medical facilities, VA medical centers and hospice facilities across the country and has provided airfare for families across all 50 states and internationally.

National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) is celebrated every May and is a declaration that encourages U.S. citizens to observe the month in a symbol of unity. NMAM honors the current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

VCG was a Live Silent Auction Sponsor and donated 12 seats to wounded warriors and their families to attend the event. Auction items included art created by disabled combat veterans, a World War 2 B-25 Bomber flight experience, and a Gretsch Rancher Guitar signed by country music stars Lee Brice and the Turnpike Troubadors.

Throughout the year, VCG supports numerous initiatives and programs that provide resources for military personnel, veterans, and their families. In addition to sponsoring Luke's Wings, VCG supports Courage On All Fronts, Operation Toy Drive, and the Roof Deployment Project to provide materials, labor and new roofs to veterans in need.
