Venture Construction Group of Florida Sponsors Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse Race for Hope
Construction company staff members run for a cause to support local nonprofit initiatives to end domestic violence
LAKE WORTH, Fla., Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) was a Silver Sponsor at the Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) 19th Annual Race for Hope to support victims of domestic violence. The event was held Jan. 12 from 6:30- 9:30 am at John Prince Park in Lake Worth. The event included a 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run, Kids Dash, Hometown Hero Police 5K, Hometown Hero Firefighter 5K. All proceeds benefit AVDA's programs and services for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
Awards included first place overall open, masters and grandmasters and five year age division three-deep for 5K and 10K. Hometown Hero Awards went to first place male and first place female police officers and firefighters in the 5K. Fundraising awards were distributed to first place individual fundraiser, first place fundraising team and team with the largest number of members. Purple Party Awards were distributed to the top three individuals dressed in their best Purple Party attire. Finishers medals were distributed to all participants who completed the race within the time limit.
According to AVDA, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 and older in the United States have been a victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. 1 in 3 teens experiences abuse from a dating partner.
AVDA's mission is to help survivors transition out of violent relationships so they can live free of fear. AVDA provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency and transitional housing, advocacy, counseling and support to survivors.
VCGFL staff members dressed up in their best AVDA Purple Pajama Party costumes and ran in the 5K. VCGFL supports a variety of charities throughout the year and partners with AVDA and other nonprofit organizations to end domestic violence.
