In response to governmental pricing transparency mandate, VitalWare has developed HospitalPriceIndex.com. It is designed to be a useful tool for both patients and providers to increase transparency and provide context, reducing confusion around the meaning of different health care costs and increasing patient consumer confidence in procedure-based pricing.

On January 1, 2019, CMS will require all hospitals to make public a list of their standard charges, allowing the public to view a patient-friendly list of all hospital charges. Updated annually, CMS is requiring all hospitals to provide this information in a machine-readable format that can be easily be read by a human, and/or processed by a computer.
