Wendy Nather from Cisco to Speak at Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) Conference
PITTSBURGH, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 21, 2019 -- The Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) conference, March 28 to 30, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will focus on women in the field and highlight five keynote speakers. Wendy Nather, head of the Advisory CISO team at Duo Security, Cisco, is one of those speakers.
WiCyS is a unique conference that focuses on recruiting, retaining, inspiring and advancing women in cybersecurity careers while also including students, educators, industry, government, military and research organizations.
Nather comes with a list of impressive credentials and will talk on Friday, March 29, 1:20 p.m., about “Solving for the Security Poverty Line.” Her keynote will dive into the security problems faced by organizations that do not have full IT capabilities. The dynamics of cybersecurity are complex and will need engagement by the entire community to address them.
Nather regularly speaks on topics such as risk analysis, societal and privacy issues, threat intelligence, incident response, identity and access management as well as data security. Although she works at Duo Security, she has been the research director at the Retail ISAC and was research director of the Information Security Practice at the independent analyst firm 451 Research. She led IT security for the EMEA region of the investment banking division of Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) and served as CISO of the Texas Education Agency.
In addition to her work, Nather has co-authored The Cloud Security Rules. In 2014, she was named one of SC Magazine’s Women in IT Security Power Players. In 2018, she earned the Reboot Leadership Award as an Influencer.
Her talk will lay out certain problems and challenges facing society. For organizations that don’t have full IT capabilities, the cascading effects include security. It is not just a matter of providing cheap or free security software, or scanning and scolding until regulators step in. The dynamics in cybersecurity are more complex and need focused efforts from the entire community.
