World-Class Contributors Announced for Open Source Healthcare Journal Debut
ARLINGTON, Mass. (PRWEB) October 10, 2018 -- GoInvo, a healthcare design studio located in Arlington, Massachusetts, announces the debut issue of Open Source Healthcare Journal, a magazine advocating open source solutions in health.
The first issue will feature a Q&A with digital health leader and best-selling author Eric Topol, MD, as well as articles by Jane Sarasohn-Kahn of HealthcareDIY and Juhan Sonin of MIT and GoInvo.
Sarasohn-Kahn is a health economist and advisor supporting organizations at the intersection of health, technology and people. She founded THINK-Health and the Health Populi blog after working for 10 years with healthcare consultancies in the U.S. and Europe. Her clients are all stakeholders in health: technology, bio/life sciences, providers, plans, retail, financial services, food, and consumer goods. Sarasohn-Kahn is a frequent speaker and also contributes to the Huffington Post.
“Open source is fundamental. The fact that we don’t have open healthcare reflects the deepness of our problem,” said Topol. Topol is a classically trained clinician who fights for patient rights as the atomic unit of healthcare, a stance outlined in his book “The Patient Will See You Now.” His Precision Medicine Initiative, funded by the National Institutes of Health, aims to build hyper-personalized medical solutions — all under the umbrella of open science, open results, and open outcomes for all humans.
“We demand that our healthcare services be open to inspect and correct bias, and to be accessible for rapid innovation and evolution,” said Sonin, director of GoInvo. “Together with leaders and progressive thinkers in digital health, we are beginning a dialogue about open source in healthcare. We need to put a fine point on a mission critical part of our healthcare system, that is dominated by closed services, limited access, lack of transparency into pricing, and no patient-data ownership, which impacts all of our health.”
