XL Displays Raises Thousands For Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice
Local event and exhibition stand supplier, XL Displays, has raised over £8,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in just 20 months.
PETERBOROUGH, England, Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Local event and exhibition stand supplier, XL Displays, has raised over £8,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in just 20 months.
Since their partnership began in February 2017, XL Displays have taken part in four fundraising events; including two inflatable 5k runs, one bubble run and the dragon boat race.
In addition to this, they also donated over £200 worth of items to three local boys who took part in the Mongol Rally challenge in aid of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in July. The boys managed to raise nearly £3,000 for Thorpe Hall.
XL Displays' total donation of £8,462.80 to the hospice equates to £423.14 per month – a valiant effort from the company's 40+ members of staff.
XL Displays chose Thorpe Hall Hospice as their charity partner as a result of a number of their staff having personal connections to the hospice.
Thorpe Hall Hospice is the only specialist palliative care inpatient unit in Peterborough. It offers treatment for people with terminal healthcare issues, as well as providing end of life care and support for the patient's families. The hospice has 20 beds and offers round the clock care.
This means it needs £3.3 million per year to run, and £2.3 million of that needs to be independently funded by people and companies such as XL Displays taking part in events year round.
If every VAT registered business in Peterborough raised the same amount per month as XL Displays, there would be more than enough money to keep the hospice running and providing the essential care its patients rely on.
XL Displays doesn't just donate to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice; it also delivers donations every quarter to the Peterborough Foodbank. The company's last donation saw them give away nearly 1,500 food items – enough to feed 64 families in the city for a whole week.
Combining all of the business' donations to various charities since 2015 – including to Children in Need, Macmillan Cancer Support and Comic Relief – XL Displays has raised a total of £13,132.94 for charity, as well as 2290 food items to the food bank.
On October 14 members of the XL Displays team will run 5k in aid of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
They hope to reach the £10,000 mark by February 2019 to mark their two-year partnership with Thorpe Hall.
