Xstrahl Delivers CIX FLASH, the First Commercial X-Ray Based Preclinical FLASH Irradiator
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 28, 2023 -- Xstrahl, a leader in preclinical radiation research systems, announced today the first delivery of CIX FLASH, the world’s first commercial X-ray based preclinical FLASH Irradiator to the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Medicine along with the Sydney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The CIX FLASH gives investigators tools to expand preclinical radiation studies using a patented FLASH technique, further supporting translational research into effective cancer treatments.
FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) is a novel, emerging technique whereby tumors are treated with ultra-high dose rates of radiation. Remarkably, this has been shown to reduce damage to normal tissue while effectively treating diseased areas when compared to conventional therapy.
The CIX FLASH marks a milestone with the availability of a system specifically designed for preclinical research that can be used in a standard laboratory environment.
