@AnalyticsWeek Rolling Out Chapter to Promote Women in STEM
(PRWEB) February 27, 2015 -- The lack of a large presence of women in STEM is a big and living issue that needs some attention. With a technology evolution resulting in 90% job creation in STEM related fields, it is a more important issue than it has ever been before. Recently, AnalyticsWeek’s friend, long supporter and an innovation executive, Deeksha Joshi, contributed and designed a panel discussion on Women in STEM during our first #AnalyticsStreet data & analytics conference in Boston. @AnalyticsWeek today announced a dedicated council for addressing opportunities for Women in Analytics & STEM. Deeksha Joshi has thankfully agreed to Chair the initiative. The council will work closely with our community members to work on ideas, programs and awareness campaigns to increase dialog among the existing community members and do all things necessary to promote awareness and provide all the necessary help to facilitate the adoption.
AnalyticsWeek’s Sachin Bhate pointed: “We think it is a serious issue and when 90% of jobs will be created in STEM fields, we must do everything in our power to broaden the impact by expanding the talent pool of STEM to becoming half comprised by women (50%), who currently sparsely represent it." Deeksha Joshi said: “Boston is blessed with so many women executives who have shown deep interest and passion for pursuing these initiatives. I have a daughter and I want to provide her the best opportunities so that she will be prepared for future jobs, which don’t even exist today.”
AnalyticsWeek’s Vishal Kumar suggested: “This is a great time for such an initiative. Our passionate community members and 90+ partner businesses also second the thought and most of them verbally agreed to help out. So, we are excited and looking forward to this opportunity.”
