“Challenging Behaviors in Dementia Care” DVD with Teepa Snow released by Pines Education Institute
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- Presented by nationally renowned dementia expert Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, this DVD provides family members and healthcare professionals with insights on causes of challenging behaviors and hands-on techniques to connect and comfort the person living with dementia.
Teepa explains: “Often times providers don't realize they are the cause of challenging behaviors because of approaches that don't work or lack of understanding about an individual’s unique preferences or needs. It is important to partner and "work with" a person when they are behaving in a way that surprises us. In order to be successful in changing behavior, it will be about how we respond to what is happening, and what we choose to do that will make the difference.”
“Family members as well as professional care providers often struggle with unexpected and difficult behaviors of people living with Alzheimer’s, Lewy Body, Frontotemporal or another form of dementia”, JoAnn Westbrook, Director of Education at Pines Education Institute, explains. “Knowing which physical and emotional needs might cause these behaviors, and how to ease the discomfort and calm the person in distress are immensely important skills to have. We’re honored to be able to partner with Teepa Snow on this project, and help thousands of care providers worldwide ease their often daily struggles.”
