"Champions of Industry," with Host Jimmy Johnson, Set to Deliver an Upcoming Segment on Melanoma
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- The award winning public television series "Champions of Industry" will soon feature an episode that focuses on melanoma. Champions of Industry is hosted by former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson. Johnson's new segment will delve into the subject of melanoma in terms of its prevalence, dangers and cause.
Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. No other skin disease causes more deaths than melanoma. It occurs when melanocytes (skin cells with pigment) form in and on the skin. In men, melanoma commonly occurs on the back. Women tend to experience it on their legs. Johnson will take a look at why the melanocytes form and why they predominantly generate on these particular body sites. The program will also examine some of the statistics surrounding melanoma like its prevalence, survival rate and recurrence rate. It'll also explore the treatment method of the surgical removal of the tumor. When found early enough, melanoma can be completely removed as it will be very small and shallow. If it is caught at a late stage, there is an increased chance of recurrence as it can spread deeply into the skin's layers.
"Champions of Industry" will be featuring medical professionals and cancer survivors in the hopes of continuing to educate the public on the topic of Melanoma.
