“Dark Side of the Full Moon” To Be Released on iTunes and Amazon Video September 30th
Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 20, 2016 -- Adding a strong voice to the existing, yet fundamental, national discussion of maternal mental health impact in the U.S., is the glaring documentary Dark Side of the Full Moon. Filmmakers Maureen Fura and Jennifer Silliman, having suffered their own terrifying bouts of pregnancy and postpartum depression, gladly announce the forthcoming availability of their full-length documentary to iTunes and Amazon Video on September 30th, 2016.
“Our mission has always been to build the conversation on postpartum depression and examine not only its effects on women, but how the medical community is essentially unequipped to deal with the problem,” says Fura. “With the release of “Dark Side of the Full Moon” to these streaming platforms, we hope to see the conversation spread and inspire real change.”
Dark Side of the Full Moon takes a shocking look at the realities of mothers across the country who experienced a maternal mental health complication like pregnancy and postpartum depression, panic and psychosis and examines how, medically, these disorders are falling through the cracks.
The film delves into the secret realities of seven cases of postpartum depression and shares each woman’s deeply personal story, revealing how they were each uniquely failed by their respective healthcare systems. Through Dark Side of the Full Moon, Fura and Silliman uncover the history, origins, and mythology surrounding the dark side of being a mom, and attempt to reconstruct the idea of “motherhood”, while forging a way to find the best system of care for women to find the help they need with ease, without shame, and with a quick recovery.
