‘David and Goliath’ – World-Wide Search For Lead Actor
London, UK (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- A world-wide search for the actor to play the lead character of ‘David’ for the big-budget movie, ‘David and Goliath’ is taking the casting directors to London, Rome, Los Angeles, New York, and even Berlin.
“We’re leaving no stone unturned,” says Director Tim Chey. “We want the very best actor to play young David.”
‘David and Goliath’ commences shooting next month in Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. “We’ve narrowed our list to 12 incredible actors,” says a casting spokesperson. “We had over 1,500 submissions.”
The film looks at one of the most powerful and beloved Bible stories of all time and will focus on the early life of David who fought against the Philistine giant, Goliath against all odds.
“We’ve had lots of name actors submit, but we want an unknown actor,” Chey continues. “We want the audience to really get into the character of who David was and not be tainted by any familiarity.”
Chey is no stranger to casting in foreign territories. He produced the $20 million film, ‘Carry Me Home’ that took his casting directors around the world for an unknown actor to play John Newton. The film stars Cuba Gooding, Jr., Sharon Leal, William Sadler, and unknown Bernard Forcher. It was shot on the Amistad. ‘Carry Me Home’, is slated to open nationwide in December 2014. ‘David and Goliath’ comes at a perfect time. Hollywood is embracing faith-based films as of late and the audiences are growing at a record pace according to reports.
Will ‘David and Goliath’ stay Biblically correct? “Absolutely,” says Chey. “Hollywood should embrace true Believers to tell Biblical stories.”
‘David and Goliath’ is set for an early-2015 nation-wide theater release. “We will have the P&A for a 1,500 theater release,” says Chey.
