The “Diablo Valley – Defying Expectations” initiative, announced earlier this month by Concord Mayor Tim Grayson, is charging full speed ahead complete with an up-and-running website at http://www.diablovalleyca.com, local and national advertising and promotions, and a social media contest to win two premium tickets and backstage tours with VIP Lounge Passes for a concert of choice at the newly renovated Concord Pavilion. The prize also includes a two-night stay at a Concord hotel and dinner for two.
“The contest is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get behind the scenes with some of the most famous musicians in the world,” said Matt Hohenstreet, Diablo Valley board member and spokesperson. “It’s all part of our initiative to support the arts and culture scene in Diablo Valley.”
To win the VIP music package at Concord Pavilion, anyone can “like” Diablo Valley on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/DiabloValleyCA and have the chance to meet the musician of his or her dreams. Upcoming concerts at the Concord Pavilion include KISS with Def Leppard, Steely Dan, Journey with Steve Miller Band, Marc Anthony and more.
Music, Dance and Culture – Diablo Valley’s Commitment to the Arts
In addition to sponsoring the online VIP music contest, the Diablo Valley initiative is also sponsoring “Fallen Heroes, Rising Stars: A Juneteenth Celebration.” The performance is a family-friendly, uplifting and inspiring evening of dance, music and tribute to African-American musical artists over two nights: Friday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Diablo Valley College Theater in Pleasant Hill, and Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 p.m. at the California Theater in Pittsburg. The artists honored include James Brown, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Jam Master Jay and Nina Simon, and dance styles range from hip hop to ballet to contemporary. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and special Juneteenth hotel and performance packages starting at $109 are available at two Diablo Valley hotels: the Concord Hilton and the Crowne Plaza Concord.
Diablo Valley is also proud to support four upcoming concerts in Concord’s Music & Market series held in the historic outdoor venue of Todos Santos Plaza. Concerts include:

About the Creation of Diablo Valley
The Diablo Valley initiative was established by the TBID on April 9, 2013 when the Concord City Council adopted Resolution No. 13-23. The TBID consists of nine area hotels that are contributing an annual assessment rate of three percent of gross room rental revenue on lodging business. Beginning on June 1, 2013 and ending five years later on May 31, 2018, the assessment is expected to generate approximately $750,000 in annual funds that will be used towards marketing to increase tourism to the area, and ultimately to increase employment and revenue for Concord-area businesses.
Representatives from the hotels, the Concord Chamber of Commerce and the City of Concord, formed a committee to oversee the use of those marketing funds, and created the name and brand of Diablo Valley. The nine hotels include the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Hilton Concord, the Clarion Hotel, Premier Inns/E-Z 8, Best Western Plus Heritage Inn, Motel 6 Concord, America's Best Value Inn, Studio 6 Concord, and the Days Inn Concord.
