“Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight” begins at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center
Aurora, Colo. (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- Season 5 of the hit ABC series "Extreme Weight Loss" offers a new twist with three special companion piece editions -- "Love Can't Weight" -- in which three obese couples get in shape, both physically and emotionally, for each of their weddings. “Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight” premieres TUESDAY, JUNE 23 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network.
Like the cast members on “Extreme Weight Loss”, the couples will spend the first 90 days of their transformation journey attending boot camp at the renowned University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in Aurora, Colo. The center’s associate director Holly Wyatt, MD, affectionately known as “Dr. Holly” by her patients and the cast members, serves as medical director for the show and will work alongside transformation specialists and trainers Chris and Heidi Powell, helping the couples safely lose up to half their body weight, as well as the emotional baggage that often holds one back, in preparation for their weddings.
“Extreme Weight Loss” is a unique and riveting, docu-series about weight loss transformations that takes viewers on the unprecedented 365-day journeys of courageous and resilient "super obese" people. Episodes of “Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight” will span six months. After spending the first three months in boot camp together at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, the couples will be unexpectedly separated for the next three months -- not able to see each other until their wedding day!
The episodes will culminate with each couple's much anticipated wedding ceremony, where they’ll see each other again for the first time in three months. In that time, two couples find the strength in themselves and each other to walk down the aisle towards wedding bliss, while another finds the strength to walk away – just six days before the wedding! Though all three couples won't make it to the altar, they will all lose an incredible amount of weight at their final weigh-ins (one couple will lose more than 300 pounds combined).
The University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center offers some of the country’s most advanced research and science-based expertise, focusing on a comprehensive wellness approach including weight loss and weight management, fitness and nutrition. The center is now home to its first destination weight loss program, Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp.
Holly Wyatt, MD, “Dr. Holly”, was inspired to start the new program after working with the “Extreme Weight Loss” and “Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight” cast members. Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp starts with an intense six-day boot camp which is designed to give participants the tools they need to begin their own successful transformation—without the TV cameras!
