“Extreme Weight Loss”: Tiffany (“Pearls”) Begins a Transformation Journey at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center Determined to Leave Her Eating Disorders Behind
Aurora, Colo. (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- In the next episode of “Extreme Weight Loss” Season 5, Tiffany (296 pounds; Wichita Falls, TX) wears her pearls to every workout. She’s worn her signature jewelry everywhere for years, which has earned her the nickname “Pearls.” Adorning herself was Pearls’ attempt to feel beautiful in spite of her weight and years of suffering from eating disorders.
Pearls’ inspiring 365-day weight loss journey will be chronicled in the episode of “Extreme Weight Loss” airing on TUESDAY, JULY 21 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC.
Pearls has battled eating disorders including binging, bulimia and anorexia for most of her life – going all the way back to her teenage years. Now, she’s a divorced mother of an autistic son and works as an autism activist. Pearls fears that if she doesn’t get her weight under control and begin living a healthy lifestyle, she won’t be around for her son much longer.
An overloaded schedule both at work and at home has led Pearls to continue making bad food choices. When the episode begins, she’s maxed out, inactive and obese. The show documents Pearls’ determination to overcome her struggles, as she confronts her eating issues and faces the most daunting physical and emotional challenges of her life.
“Extreme Weight Loss” returns to the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center for Season 5. This is where cast members will again spend the first 90 days of his or her weight loss journey. Holly Wyatt, MD, medical director for the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, also serves as medical director for the television program. She’s affectionately known as “Dr. Holly” to the cast members and is seen on the show each week helping participants safely lose up to half of their body weight.
At the end of this episode, Pearls will continue the tradition of “paying it forward” by giving a friend or family member the opportunity to transform his or her life. The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center will provide the designee a place at the one-week, evidence-based Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp transformation program.
Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp was inspired by Wyatt’s participation in the TV show.
