“Extreme Weight Loss” Video Blog from the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center: Pearls Rewrites Her Story, Takes Control of Her Life and Produces a New, Happy Ending
Aurora, Colo. (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- The latest edition of “Extreme Weight Loss” features Tiffany who earned the nickname “Pearls” because she wears her signature necklace everywhere— even to workouts! Pearls adorns herself with the jewelry to help her feel beautiful despite years spent battling obesity. In her weekly video blog, the TV show’s medical director Holly Wyatt, MD, observes that Pearls’ decision to rewrite her personal story played a key role in her weight loss transformation success.
Every episode of the hit ABC series “Extreme Weight Loss” Season 5 begins at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo. Holly Wyatt, MD is associate director of the center and medical director for the TV show. She is affectionately known as “Dr. Holly” to the show’s cast members and her patients.
Each week, Dr. Holly watches the show then records a video blog offering fans her insight plus advice on how to begin, or continue, their own weight loss transformation journeys.
Dr. Holly says there’s a lot to learn from Pearls (Wichita Falls, TX) about shaking off past excuses and writing a new, positive ending to the story of our weight loss challenges. Pearls' old story included battles with eating disorders, an unhappy marriage and divorce. She allowed those things to stand in her way and give her an excuse for her obesity.
“So many of us play the same old story over and over and let the same old excuses stand in our way,” Dr. Holly said. “What I love about Pearls is that she rewrote her story. She took back control and we can, too.”
Dr. Holly’s advice:
• Believe that rewriting your old story will allow you to take control of your weight loss journey and end the cycle of disappointing outcomes
• Identify the excuses in your old story and decide to eliminate them from your new one
• My challenge to you this week is to reflect on the stories and excuses that have stood in the way of your success. Tells us about it on my Facebook page. Then, rewrite your story without the excuses to produce your new, happy ending
Dr. Holly’s participation in the TV show inspired her to create the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center’s first destination weight loss program. The weeklong Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp is designed to provide participants with the tools they need to complete their own successful weight loss transformations— without the TV cameras! Limited space is available in upcoming boot camps and weight loss seekers are encouraged to learn more and register now.
