“Extreme Weight Loss”: When Jackie Sheds Her Guilt, She’s Ready to Begin Shedding Her Excess Weight at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center
Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) August 21, 2015 -- The next episode of “Extreme Weight Loss” Season 5 follows Jackie (266 pounds; Denver, CO) through her emotional battle to overcome the guilt she’s lived with for more than a decade. Her son Hunter was barely a toddler when Jackie received the phone call that shattered her happy and healthy life. The nanny had shaken Hunter, and he’d suffered severe brain damage.
Jackie used overeating as a way to deal with the guilt she felt over the incident and rapidly put on more than 100 pounds. Her journey to reclaim her life, learn to forgive and break out of her downward spiral will be featured on “Extreme Weight Loss” on TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC.
After her son was injured, Jackie endured two years of court dates and intense media coverage, as she and her husband fought to put the nanny behind bars. Today, Hunter and Jackie have a special bond, but he continues to suffer from his injuries.
At the core of Jackie’s yearlong transformation is her effort to forgive. She must first forgive herself and then find the courage to forgive the nanny.
“Extreme Weight Loss” returns to the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo. for Season 5. This is where cast members will again spend the first 90 days of his or her weight loss journey. Holly Wyatt, MD, medical director for the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, also serves as medical director for the television show. She’s affectionately known as “Dr. Holly” to the cast members and is seen on the show each week helping participants safely lose up to half of their body weight.
At the end of this episode, Jackie will continue the tradition of “paying it forward” by giving a friend or family member the opportunity to transform his or her life. The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center will provide the designee a place at the one-week, evidence-based Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp transformation program.
Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp was inspired by Wyatt’s participation in the TV show. She designed the boot camp to provide participants with the tools they need to complete their own successful weight loss transformations— without the TV cameras!
