“Hereshot” App Focuses on User-Generated News with Introduction of 30 Second HD Video Uploads
(PRWEB) July 06, 2015 -- Hereshot, a geo-social media app that uses your location to share high-res photos, links and text with others around you, now offers unlimited thirty-second 16:9 HD video uploads. Available on Apple’s App Store for all iOS 8 devices, Hereshot’s new video feature gives users an unprecedented global forum for sharing current and newsworthy events when and where they happen — as they happen.
Founded by developer and entrepreneur Heath Michaels, Hereshot is designed to visually create an archive of events on a map that’s easily searchable and digestible in the way we normally perceive the world: through time and space. User submitted posts are explorable by selecting an area of a map, whether that’s a street corner or an entire continent, then selecting a time range from now to over two-thousand years ago. Or any range of time in between.
It’s like having the morning newspaper from every corner of the world, in every time period of recent history, but it’s curated and created by the users themselves. Everything from entertainment to politics to funny GIFs. They vote up what’s relevant and vote down what isn’t, pushing the lower quality posts down and bringing the higher quality ones up.
“There’s no better medium for quick, meaningful communication than HD video recorded and shared on-the-fly, especially when breaking news is happening in front of you,” said Michaels, Founder of Hereshot. “You can now zero in on an area of interest in the world and engage with a real-time feed of videos, photos, opinions and other user-generated content. And unlike our competitor apps, I don’t believe news can effectively be communicated in ten or fifteen seconds of video - so we give you half a minute to express yourself.”
Users interact with others pseudo-anonymously both locally and around the world, revealing only their first real name and an optional unique screen name of their choosing. Both photo and video cameras have real-time color controls so you can preview exactly how your shot will look before shooting it. While there’s no mandatory geo-fencing, Hereshot allows users to create their own geographical area of interest, no matter how big or small, and does not require prior friendships to engage in conversations or private messaging.
