(ISC)2® Announces Training Program for HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) Credential
Orlando, Fla., U.S.A. (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- (ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”), the largest not-for-profit membership body of certified information and software security professionals with nearly 100,000 members worldwide, today announced a specialized education program in accordance with its recently released HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPPSM) credential. This three-day, hands-on course will offer students an interactive learning environment comprised of short lectures, discussions, group activities, and scenario analysis.
“Given the increased amount of healthcare industry regulations regarding the security of personal health information (PHI) and widely reported data breaches in hospitals and healthcare organizations alike, (ISC)² introduced a comprehensive credential and education program to ensure that healthcare information security and privacy practitioners possess the knowledge and skills to perform their duties securely,” said W. Hord Tipton, CISSP, executive director, (ISC)². “We are pleased to introduce training courses that cover the domains of our newest credential – the HCISPP – in-depth, while introducing security best practices tailored to the needs of the healthcare community.”
The courses will be taught by certified (ISC)² instructors who specialize in healthcare security and privacy in academia, government service, and the private sector. Instructors will utilize various learning techniques throughout the three-day course to cover each element of the HCISPP common body of knowledge (CBK®):
• Healthcare Industry
• Regulatory Environment
• Privacy and Security in Healthcare
• Information Governance and Risk Management
• Information Risk Assessment
• Third Party Risk Management
The first training course will be held in (ISC)²’s Vienna, Va. office location on May 12, 2014, followed by Boston, Mass. on May 19, 2014. Additional courses will be offered throughout 2014 in cities across the U.S. An abbreviated one-day course will also be offered during the (ISC)2 Security Congress event in Atlanta, Ga.
