NEW YORK (PRWEB) December 19, 2017 -- In December 2016, Joey Boots from the Howard Stern Show suffered a fatal drug overdose in his Bronx apartment. One year later, his autobiography The Joey Boots Chronicles has been released on Amazon.
Joey Boots was best known for his regular contributions to the Howard Stern Radio Show. While not quite a member of Stern’s collection of oddball characters known as the Wack Pack, Boots and his antics were key components of the show for years. From his trademark live TV interruptions of news reports known as “Booey bombs,” in-studio pranks and stunts, and a romantic tryst with frequent guest comedienne Lisa Lampanelli. Then ultimately shocking fans by coming out as gay on Stern's show.
Joey Boots lived a unique and troublesome life, beginning as a victim of child abuse and violent bullying. Constant feelings of isolation led to regular encounters with the law. He spent time as both a volunteer firefighter and serial arsonist on Long Island before taking a job on an Alaskan fishing ship and later enlisting in the US Army stationed in Bosnia. Through it all, Boots grappled with his own sexuality and substance abuse issues.
In his memorial for Joey Boots, Howard Stern said, "Joey had a hard life, but he told us a lot of things brought him joy, and one of them was our show. I liked Joey very, very much and I’m going to miss him very much. He was a great friend to the show."
