“King of Bachata” Romeo Santos Welcomes Students from SAE Institute Miami
Miami, FL (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Twenty students from SAE Institute Miami’s Audio Technology Program were guests at a soundcheck by superstar recording artist Romeo Santos, who performed at the American Airlines Arena on May 31. The event was hosted by the Latin Grammy Foundation as part of their Latin Grammy Soundcheck series, and the sold-out performance was part of Santos’ current "Formula, Vol. 2" tour of the United States, which kicked off May 22 in Los Angeles.
“This was a great opportunity for our students to observe a real-world soundcheck scenario by a top artist in a premier performance venue,” says SAE Miami Career Development & Industry Engagement Director Mark Samuels. “It’s our goal at SAE to provide our students with these kinds of professional interactions so that they’re familiar with the challenges, demands, and creative possibilities of the live sound and audio recording industries.”
Santos, whose latest video “Propuesta Indecente” has garnered over 300 million views on YouTube, did a Q&A with the students about the audio production aspects of his tour. Santos’ front of house engineer, Roly Garbalosa, gave the students a tour of the American Airlines Arena facility and provided them with an in-depth examination of how he acoustically prepares for Santos’ sold-out shows.
“The opportunity to go behind-the-scenes at events such as Romeo Santos’ concert is the kind of education that enhances what SAE teaches in the classroom and what our students learn in the studio,” says SAE Miami Campus Director Marcella Holness. “It helps us to develop graduates who are employment-ready, and have the real world skills that companies in the live event, recording studio, film, television, and gaming worlds are looking for."
