“Military Friendly School” Status Garnered by Rose State College in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Rose State College in Oklahoma City is again part of an exclusive club that only 20 percent of colleges and universities in the U.S. can join--the Military Friendly Schools list.
“Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Rose State College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Vice President at Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “The need for education is growing and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”
Only 20 percent of colleges in the U.S. make the list. Rose State College has held this status since 2010.
“We are honored to be recognized again this year as a Military Friendly School,” said Veteran Student Services Coordinator Lance J. Newbold. “With our proximity to Tinker Air Force Base and several Oklahoma National Guard units, we have always considered Rose State College to be a great school choice for military and veteran students but it is special to be designated by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School.”
Rose State College also serves as the venue for the sendoff ceremonies for the Oklahoma Honor Flights, a state veteran’s organization founded by Oklahoma State Rep. Gary Banz. Oklahoma Honor Flights transports Oklahoma veterans to Washington D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifice.
According to Victory media, the 1,868 colleges, universities and trade schools on the current list “exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. These schools have world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services to those who served.”
