"Support Our Heroes" Pro Mod Drag Race Car From Purple Gorilla Racing On Exhibit At Dave's Claremore RV
Claremore, Oklahoma (PRWEB) June 16, 2017 -- For people who love the thunder and super-fast action of the drag races and love the USA, then here’s a fun, free event.
Saturday, June 17th, the “Support Our Heroes” themed drag race car will be on display from 11am to 4pm at Dave’s Claremore RV located at 24655 S. Hwy 66 in Claremore, Oklahoma. A product of hometown based Purple Gorilla Racing with sponsorship by Dave’s RV, this special drag car races in the Pro Modified (Pro Mod) division of the Professional Drag Racing Association (PDRA) racing circuit. It’s a car that’s hard to miss as not only is it a beauty to behold, but it is also colorfully wrapped with special graphics encouraging all who see it to support all heroes in the military, as well as first responders including police, fire, nurse and emergency staff.
Race gas powered with nitrous oxide gas assistance, the car produces over 3,000 horsepower almost instantaneously and rockets down the 1/8 mile track in a blistering 3.70 seconds at over 200 mph. So if the eye blinks at the wrong moment, anyone miss it flashing by. But then its earth shaking, thundering roar will surely remind everyone that it did.
The motor behind all that power is a custom built big block Chevrolet V-8 checking in at a whopping 948 cubic inches. The transmission is a 3 speed automatic which sits on a custom built steel and titanium frame. The car’s driver, Ron Muenks, then sits inside a special all steel roll cage designed for maximum protection and complete with an on board fire extinguisher system.
Covering the body of this super powerful beast is a 1968 Camaro mostly purple carbon fiber skin. Then, wrapping the entire body are colorful graphics visually promoting the “Support Our Heroes” theme.
The design was actually first introduced to fans in 2016 with military graphics on one side of the car. But the immediate and continued positive reaction by fans supporting the theme’s message led the race team to expand upon the theme for 2017. Consisting of driver Ron Muenks, crew chief Jeff Pierce and crew Randy Hancock and Ryan Sadler, the team worked extensively with Chris Davis from Kryptonite Kustomz to design and create a new look for this year. Chris and his crew then professionally wrapped the entire car in a scene that honors America’s many unsung heroes. The design spotlights the US military on one side of the car, then First Responders such as EMS, nurses, police and fire personnel on the other.
The front clip of the car showcases the raising of the flag at the battle of Iwo Jima, while the rear deck includes a picture of team owner Dave Pierce serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Also incorporated in the design are several notable amendments from the Bill of Rights. Over all, the people and occupations represented are real heroes. The military and their families sacrifice day in and day out to provide this country the security and freedoms that citizens enjoy daily. The EMS, police and fire personnel protect and care for all in all communities. This car poignantly reminds all of these heroes and is a way for the team to offer heartfelt thanks to all of them.
In addition to the race car on display at the dealership, there will also be a special “meet and greet” session with car owner, Dave Pierce and the race crew staff.
