‘The Circle Broken’ Receives Reel Time Feature on Baker & Taylor Website

A chance encounter with a First Nations Wendat girl, Tikanaka, leads to Remy’s first sexual encounter. Torn between his desire for Tikanaka and his desire for adventure with La Salle, Remy explores the relationship until La Salle’s voyage forces the two lovers apart.
Upon returning from the voyage, Remy learns that Tikanaka’s tribe has been attacked and massacred by the Iroquois. Refusing to believe that his headstrong maiden is dead, Remy begins a search for her, knowing that he can never give up his quest to find the girl who stole his heart.
Extensive research on Native American life, a subject that has fascinated Johnston from a young age, made “The Circle Broken” a historically accurate depiction of 17th century North America during a clash of civilizations. Johnston hopes his work familiarizes readers with the concept that love can triumph over religious bigotry.
