“X-Factor” Star Carlos Guevara Takes Advantage of SC Whitmore Virtual High School
South Carolina (PRWEB) December 22, 2013 -- The week before Christmas in South Carolina most teenagers are finishing up their final days of school, attending holiday themed parties, and catching the latest movie releases at their local theaters. Carlos Guevara (of Lexington, SC) is not your typical teenager. Back in September, Guevera ignited his singing career with a successful audition on Fox’s popular reality show X-Factor. Carlos progressed through several televised performances to the Top 13 in the competition. Guevara is currently in Los Angeles, as one of the top twelve finalists who were invited back for a “reunion” during the show’s finale.
That is where South Carolina Whitmore School comes in. Guevara recently enrolled in the online charter school so that he could have the flexibility to finish his high school education while pursuing his career in music. Guevera’s mother, Eliesha Nick, recently expressed her reasons for enrolling Guevera. “We chose SC Whitmore School because they were quick to respond to our inquiries and answered all of our questions. Carlos spends a lot of time on the go, so the flexibility of his school hours helps us stay mobile. Carlos will be pursuing his music career, and graduating early is certainly something he is going to try to do.”
According to Principal, Ellen Ray, “South Carolina Whitmore School offers students such a high level of flexibility with scheduling and course load that we find many students come to us who have multiple demands on their time for whatever reason. We have a wide range of students including students who fell behind academically because their regular school wasn’t working for them, students who want to challenge themselves and accelerate their education, and students who have pursuits and commitments that make a regular school day impossible. Our individualized mastery educational model is able to meet these diverse needs.”
SC Whitmore School, a free public virtual high school powered by the CompuHigh mastery-based curriculum, is available to all South Carolina residents. The school is currently enrolling new students for the 2013-2014 school-year. Interested families can visit http://www.sc.whitmoreschool.com or call 1-866-476-6416 for more details and to register.
