A&E Custom Coffee Roastery Collaborates with NH Institute of Art to Design Coffee Label/Fundraiser
Amherst, NH (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- A&E Custom Coffee Roastery & Tea announced that it has collaborated with the NH Institute of Art to design a coffee label for a custom blend coffee, the Artist’s Blend, proceeds from which will benefit the school’s scholarship fund.
The coffee blend, created especially for the collaboration, features a citrusy sweetness up front followed by a balanced flavor and lingering finish. It sells for $16.99 for a one-pound bag and can be found at A&E Coffee in Amherst; at the NHIA in Manchester; and, online.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the coffee go to support the NHIA. Two dollars from the sale of each bag of coffee will be will be donated to the NHIA Scholarship Program, which is utilized by more than 90 percent of the student population. Scholarships are awarded based on need, merit or a combination of both. In addition, A&E will match that donation and $2 will go to the artist whose work is featured on the bag.
Students in the NHIA Illustration Department were given the opportunity to design art for the label in the fall. The submissions were pared down to two by Emeran Langmaid, owner of A&E Coffee, and the students revised their submissions based on her feedback. Langmaid then selected the winning submission.
“I would like to thank the NH Institute of Art and the gifted artists who submitted designs for the Artist’s Blend label. We are so grateful that they took the time and used their great talents to create such wonderful art for us. I wish we could use all of the labels,” Langmaid said.
Elizabeth Ellis, a sophomore in the illustration program, designed the winning art for the package label. Ellis loves telling stories through her illustrations and hopes someday to illustrate books and comics. Langmaid chose this piece because it illustrates the story of coffee from plant to cup.
A&E Coffee has a long history of supporting both the arts and charitable causes in New Hampshire. Each month, an artist’s work is featured in the café. The collaboration with NHIA is a natural extension of this program.
