A Forever Recovery Reaching out to Local Community for Grant Match on Police Dog Fundraiser
Battle Creek, MI (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- A Forever Recovery, an open-ended holistic treatment center for substance abuse and addiction located in Battle Creek, MI, has announced that it will be assisting the local police department with a fund-matching grant. The Battle Creek Police Department is currently working with Post Community Credit Union in a fundraising effort to replace their current drug-sniffing K9 Police Dog that will retire in early 2016.
A Forever Recovery - Helping the Local Community
Pamela Anderson, the Executive Director of A Forever Recovery, has expressed a desire to do everything that they can to help keep the community that they call home safe and drug-free. In a statement to a local news source, The Battle Creek Enquirer, she made it quite clear that AFR stands in solidarity with the BCPD and that their goal is not just the treatment of addiction but also to help eradicate the drug problem that faces our neighborhoods today.
“We want to help the police department,” Anderson told the Enquirer, “because they are doing the job of keeping drugs off the street.”
Certified drug detection dogs are highly trained and specialized in their field, which means that they are also quite expensive. Post
Community Credit Union is looking to raise $12,500 through donations from the residents of Battle Creek. A Forever Recovery has made a commitment to match those donations, up to a total of $5000, or around 40% of the cost of a new K9 Officer. With the matched donations, this funding will cover around 83% of the new drug dog, helping to relieve some of the tax burden that would otherwise be necessary to finance the purchase.
