A Forever Recovery’s CEO Per Wickstrom Fills Semi Truck with Food Thanks to Donation to Detroit’s Gleaners Community Food Bank
(PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- In an effort to help alleviate hunger and make the holiday season a little brighter for financially stressed individuals and families in Detroit and the surrounding area, Per Wickstrom, the CEO of leading addiction treatment center A Forever Recovery, has donated $15,000 to the Gleaners Community Food Bank.
Per Wickstrom made the donation, on behalf of A Forever Recovery, on the morning of December 16 during a visit to the Gleaners Community Food Bank located at 2131 Beaufait Street in Detroit. He was joined by the food bank’s Board of Directors who generously matched his contribution, bringing the total donation to $30,000; enough to fill a semi truck full of food, and provide 90,000 nourishing meals to Detroiters of all ages – including children and seniors -- who could not otherwise afford the food they need.
Last year, the Gleaners Community Food Bank distributed 41 million pounds -- the equivalent of more than 100,000 meals per day -- of emergency food to over 550 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe, MI counties. Ninety-three cents of every dollar it receives in donations goes towards food and food programs.
“It’s a tremendous honor to help the Gleaners Community Food Bank fulfill its essential mission, which is to nourish communities by feeding hungry people,” commented Per Wickstrom. “The work they do all year ‘round is invaluable, and I encourage everyone to lend their support, either financially or by volunteering their time.”
About A Forever Recovery
A Forever Recovery program is an open-ended drug and alcohol treatment program that gets clients off to a great start and gives them a solid foundation in recovery they can believe in. Not every treatment methodology works for every client. Some people are very receptive to 12-step principles, whereas others are more comfortable with faith-based treatment. Cognitive approaches have excellent success, whereas others thrive within a more holistic approach. A Forever Recovery allows clients to choose from a wide range of recovery methodologies, coupled with Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), to achieve success rates unmatched in the addiction treatment industry. The bottom line is that there is no single therapeutic approach to recovery that works for everyone… until now.
