A Forever Recovery Staff & Patients Help Pack 555 Christmas Trees for “Trees for Troops” Program
Battle Creek, MI (PRWEB) December 17, 2014 -- On December 1, 2014, a group of staff and patients from A Forever Recovery teamed up with more than 100 volunteers at the Wahmhoff Farms Nursery in Gobles, Michigan, so they could enthusiastically pack 555 Christmas trees earmarked for troops stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado, and Scott AFB in Illinois.
The all-day effort was part of the National Tree Association’s “Trees for Troops” program, which provides Christmas trees to members of the armed forces and their families stationed in the US and overseas. Since its inception in 2005, the program has distributed more than 122,000 Christmas trees.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our staff and patients for going out into the community and being part of an extraordinary program that is making the holidays a bit brighter for our armed forces personnel and their families,” commented A Forever Recovery’s CEO Per Wickstrom.
“It’s for a good cause, we had a sign-up sheet and as soon as it came out, I signed up,” commented Melissa, an A Forever Recovery patient. “Men and women serving in the armed forces don’t have their families with them, and they don’t get to have a Christmas like we do. Anything we can do to help is nice. It was nice to see how many people came out.”
The effort was also applauded by Dan Wahmhoff, the president and part-owner of Wahmhoff Farms Nursery, who has seen a steady increase in the number of volunteers coming out each year.
“It makes a big difference,” commented Wahmhoff. “If we had to do this ourselves, it would be a lot more work, we rely on the support over here. We can load the trucks with my crew, but having the people come out really builds our morale to see that there is that much support with the troops. The significant thing is that our troops are out there for us 365 days of the year. They’re out there serving our country, giving us our freedoms, and in this particularly challenging time of the season, when they’re away from their family and friends for Christmas, it can be real hard on them. We try to provide some home for them, some of the soldiers overseas now have a tree on the base, so that’s who we do it for.”

Cognitive approaches have excellent success, whereas others thrive within a more holistic approach. A Forever Recovery allows clients to choose from a wide range of recovery methodologies, coupled with Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), to achieve success rates unmatched in the addiction treatment industry. The bottom line is that there is no single therapeutic approach to recovery that works for everyone… until now.
