A Prom to Remember: Boston Gets Teens with Cancer to Dance the Night Away at Second Annual Prom
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- A Prom to Remember: Boston, an organization committed to providing the ultimate prom experience for teens ages 13-19 affected by cancer, hosted its second annual Boston prom on June 21, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common. Teen patients and former patients who are battling or have battled cancer came out for the special evening, from all across New England. The event was an incredible success, with over 50 attendees arriving to walk the red carpet, dance the night away and experience the ultimate prom.
As guests arrived they were greeted and walked down the red carpet by local celebrities such as Brandon Wahlberg of the reality show “Wahlburgers,” Miss Massachusetts World, Maude Gorman and Chris & Peyton Lambton – hosts of DIY’s “Yard Crashers” and HGTV’s “Going Yard” as well as “The Bachelor” & “The Bachelorette” alumni. While entering the ballroom, they were cheered on by New England Revolution Rev Girls, Boston Bruins Ice Girls and New England Patriots cheerleaders. Special performances occurred throughout the evening by local country singer Jessie Chris and by Lil’ Phunk, who is the official junior dance team for the Boston Celtics.
“Our second year hosting A Prom to Remember here in Boston was an extraordinary success,” said Wendy Nichols, chair of A Prom to Remember: Boston. “The whole experience is incredibly moving and rewarding – the smiles on the teens’ faces as they walked the red carpet, danced and laughed all night long was unforgettable. We’re so grateful to be able to give these teens this experience, and we’re thankful for the support that the Boston community has provided to make it happen.”
This special prom is held at no cost to the teens or their families. A Prom to Remember: Boston, with the help of sponsors and donations, covered all expenses, including luxury transportation to and from the event, dresses, tuxedos, photography, jewelry, shoes, hair and make-up services, and swag bags for each attendee as they left the prom.
The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common, which does not typically host proms, provided its venue and catering services for this special prom event to ensure that guests enjoyed an exceptional prom ambience. Sponsors of the event included the Boston Bruins, Party Dress Express, ASA Photographic, Alex & Ani and The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common; their generosity has been critical in making this event a success.
Attendees of A Prom to Remember: Boston walked away from the evening with new friendships, beautiful photos and memories that will last a lifetime.
