A.R.E. Design Awards Set for March 18th in Las Vegas
Hollywood, FL (PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- March 18, 2014 will be a night for stars in the retail design world to shine as A.R.E. (Association for Retail Environments) unveils its 2014 Design Awards at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards program coincides with the opening night of GlobalShop, the world’s largest annual store design and at-retail marketing show.
The theme of this year’s award ceremony is “Retail Mixology” and it will be co-hosted by Sue McCoy, vice president of store design and shop development for Jones Apparel Group and Christopher Love, vice president of architecture and construction for the BCBG Max Azria Group.
Judging took place at the end of January, with some of the most notable names in the retail industry taking part on the panel. More than 250 projects were submitted in various categories such as Service Retailer, Supermarket, Specialty Stores and Department Stores. All in all, A.R.E. hands out 69 awards in 24 different categories. The most coveted awards are Visual Presentation of the Year, Fixture of the Year, Sustainable Project of the Year and Store of the Year.
“This is like Oscar night for the retail industry,” said Karen Doodeman, A.R.E.’s director of programming and events. “We will recognize stores with the best designs and fixtures in the market today and the people who brought them all to life.” Doodeman said all of the winners were notified of the honor prior to the ceremony, but which award each will receive was not revealed.
The ceremony will also recognize the A.R.E. Above & Beyond and the design:retail (formerly DDI) Markopoulos recipients.
All 2014 A.R.E. Design Award winners will be recognized in the commemorative A.R.E. Winners Book, which will be available at the conclusion of the ceremony and can be picked up at A.R.E.’s Booth (No. 1207) at GlobalShop or requested online thereafter.
