A Recent Safeware Study Reveals That It's Not Just School Supply Prices That Fall During the K-12 Back-to-School Season
Dublin, OH (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- According to a new Safeware loss study, more than 60 percent of accidental damage events for student issued laptops and tablets in the K-12 environment are due to the device being dropped or falling.
The loss study examined data from over 30,000 claims to identify trends and common types of damage to these highly mobile devices. In many cases, claim events that resulted in a total loss were as simple as being knocked off of a student’s desk or falling to the ground after a classmate tripped over the power cord. Taking a tumble down a flight of stairs was also a common occurrence. There were however, examples of more extreme circumstances such as devices left on top of the car as the parent drove away sending the device crashing to the pavement.
Safeware’s President Bryan Schutjer explains that “Having a complete understanding of the cause of claims within any insured environment is a crucial step in predicting future expected losses. This is something we take seriously at Safeware, and aren’t hesitant to spend time and resources developing.”
Not only does the loss study help to identify trends in claim causes, but the information also assists Safeware’s K-12 partners by providing them with the data and tools to manage risk in the classroom. To help schools protect their investment, Safeware provides K-12 schools and school districts with a variety of protection plan solutions.
