A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- “Manhattan? FUHGETTABOUDIT!” That’s the official slogan for A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours (http://www.asliceofbrooklyn.com) who are celebrating their tenth anniversary taking tourists from around the world on guided bus tours of one of the most famous places in the world: Brooklyn.
The tours feature Brooklyn’s favorite foods, neighborhoods, landmarks and famous movie locations. Best of all, the tours depart from Manhattan.
“I wanted to create an easy way for visitors to hop on a bus in Manhattan and experience Brooklyn from a native’s perspective” says owner/operator Tony Muia. “When I started doing tours ten years ago, nobody was bothering to go pick people up in Manhattan by bus and bring them to Brooklyn. So I took it upon myself to become Brooklyn’s official ambassador.”
Over 90,000 people have been introduced to the borough through three popular tours: the Pizza Tour, the Neighborhood Tour and the Christmas Lights Tour. The tours have been featured on the Today Show, the Travel Channel, Good Morning America and the Food Network as well as in the pages of the New York Times, the London Times and Crain’s Business just to name a few.
Muia’s tours allow visitors to skip lines at famous pizzerias like Grimaldi’s and L&B Spumoni Gardens, stand directly under the Brooklyn Bridge in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, walk the famous Promenade in the Brooklyn Heights section overlooking Manhattan and to stroll the legendary boardwalk in Coney Island.
As far as famous movie locations in Brooklyn, the tours let you stand in front of Cher’s house in Moonstruck, visit the street where John Travolta stopped for pizza in Saturday Night Fever and even recreate the famous chase scene from The French Connection all in the comfort of new coach buses. Television monitors add to the experience with an audio-visual program that includes slides, music and the actual movie clips as you’re pulling up to the location.
Besides doing tours for the general public, Muia and his guides act as step-on guides for tour operators from around the country who come to NYC many times a year with their own buses and are active members of such organizations as NYC & Company, ABA and the Brooklyn Historical Society.
What started out as a family run business with Muia and his cousin Paula now employs other tour guides as well. Muia’s only requirement? “They must be Brooklyn-born, licensed NYC tour guides. What’s the point of offering someone an authentic Brooklyn experience if you’re not getting it from a native Brooklynite?” says Muia.
Muia says, “Ten years really flew by so quickly but I look forward to another ten showing folks who’ve never been to Brooklyn how easy it is to get here, how wonderfully unique all the neighborhoods are, how many classic movies were filmed here and how much history and great food sits just across the river from Manhattan.”
