New York, NY (PRWEB) February 13, 2014 -- New York Pass, the city’s leading value-added attraction card, announced today a donation of $36,804.85 to the city’s largest volunteer organization, New York Cares in support of its annual Coat Drive that ran through the first week of February. This year’s Coat Drive collected over 50,000 coats, which will prove incredibly helpful given the frigid temperatures this winter. As its charitable partner for the third straight holiday season, New York Pass donated $1 for every pass sold online from the start of the coat drive through New Year’s. New York Pass recently presented the check to New York Cares at their lower Manhattan offices, and the donation represented an over 80 percent increase over the amount donated for last year’s Coat Drive.
“The inspiring work of New York Cares through all facets of industry supports and facilitates necessary basic services to underserved individuals and communities,” said Brian Scullin, a New York Pass spokesman. “Whether it’s supporting their annual Coat Drive, efforts in the classroom or volunteerism at soup kitchens throughout the city, we know our donation will go a long way to advancing the mission of New York Cares.”
"Few understand the importance of helping those in need more than the hardworking staff at New York Pass,” said Gary Bagley, Executive Director of New York Cares. “In the three years of our charitable partnership, we have been able to raise over $75,000, which allows us to continue our variety of volunteer programs as well as support our highly successful Coat Drive.”
New York Cares’ 59,000 volunteers are hard at work 365 days a year, teaching children the joy of reading, helping low-income students get into college, delivering job training to unemployed men and women, providing companionship to elderly nursing home residents, providing holiday gifts to families in need, serving meals to homeless and housebound people, donating coats and more. Last year, New York Cares volunteers helped 400,000 of their neighbors in need. To learn more, visit http://www.newyorkcares.org.
